Half past ten we leave for Arcen. In the beginning there is a lot of freight traffic on the road, but we can just drive on, fortunately it gets quieter later.
The plan is to be in Arcen around noon, and that's what we are.
There is enough parking space at the hotel, Maasparel,
and there is also enough space to store the
bicycles.
Check-in is smooth, and we are lucky, we can go straight to the room.
The room is neat, but small, the bed is good, and the bathroom is very large in relation to
the room.
Fortunately, there is no 'card slot' in the room.
We walk a bit through Arcen, the center is very small, looking for a place to have lunch.
Back at the hotel we buy two entrance tickets for the Kasteeltuin for 18 Euro per person.
And we book a table to eat in the hotel restaurant tonight.
We have lunch at a restaurant with a terrace along the Maas, Alt Arce, one portion of
kibbeling with sauces and salad.
It tastes ok but nothing special.
The castle gardens are beautiful, well maintained and varied and fortunately it is not very busy.
Back in Arcen we sit on the same terrace where we also had lunch, it seems to be busy with diners. Any table that becomes empty will be reserved immediately.
We walk back to the hotel and we can eat on the terrace. We order a starter that we share, and Pia then has fish, Tom lamb. The food tastes very good, but it is expensive, 126 Euro.
